Massey Mines

Massey has invested heavily in exploring, evaluating and acquiring high quality metallurgical and steam coal reserves. Currently, the company controls 2.2 billion tons of coal reserves in southern West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, southwest Virginia and Tennessee.

Long Fork

The Long Fork preparation plant processes coal produced by two underground room and pillar mines of the Sidney Resource Group. The rail loading facility serves customers on the Norfolk Southern railway with unit trains of up to 150 railcars.


Martin County

The Martin County complex includes a surface mine, an underground room and pillar mine and a preparation plant. Direct-ship coal from the surface mines is trucked to river docks, and coal processed at the preparation plant can be shipped via the Norfolk Southern railway or trucked to river docks.


New Ridge

The New Ridge complex consists of a loadout facility and a preparation plant. The loadout loads clean coal for transport by truck from the Sidney Resource Group preparation plant as well as coal trucked directly from Sidney’s surface mine. All coal is shipped via CSX rail system.
