To fully serve our growing markets now and in the future, Massey Energy attempts to acquire reserves faster than we mine them. Today more than 80 percent of our production is mined from reserves acquired since 1987. Over the last decade, we have invested heavily in exploring, evaluating and acquiring high quality metallurgical and steam coal reserves. Currently, we control 2.2 billion tons of coal reserves in southern West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, southwest Virginia and Tennessee.
